About

Communications for Changemakers

I have a simple mission: to help today’s changemakers shift the narrative.

My background as a communicator spans 20 years, leading news teams in international development organisations at ActionAid and the ONE Campaign where we gained widespread media coverage on campaigns from global health to financial transparency, highlighting humanitarian emergencies and women and girls rights. I have collaborated with partners and international teams on investigations in the field and guided domestic coalitions at home from shining a spotlight on the injustice of tax avoidance for the world’s poorest to the legacy of austerity and the financial crisis.

As a communications consultant I work with think tanks, social impact businesses and thought leaders who have a vision of a brighter future – the change-makers. Focusing on today’s most challenging socio-economic issues I help clients to navigate their comms with media training and messaging workshops to build authentic, compelling narratives.

With a strong understanding of our changing media landscape I understand how clear, light-footed communication is key particularly when conveying complicated and sensitive issues effectively.

Recent client work has broached the world of  tech ethics and public procurement to the causes of knife crime. I have learned a lot from their expertise – it’s an interactive process. I am a founding member of the Warrior Women Network and speak regularly on panels and conferences on how to work with the media to change the narrative with powerful, human stories.

Asha’s expertise, networks and support on our coalition ’10 Years On' (from the financial crash) campaign was invaluable.

She helped us establish messages that cut through in the media and resonated with politicians and the public.

She also helped ensure we got coverage across several broadcast and print media.

It’s been a pleasure to work with Asha as a media consultant. She has a great network of existing contacts and a smart eye for pitching to the right journalist at the right time helping us build on background interviews and achieve excellent coverage for our issue.
